What To Wear: Back-To-School

Summer is starting to meet its end as many of us head back to school, and while the hot weather might be staying around longer than it should, it's time for a new wardrobe! If you're a jobless student like me and only get a select amount of income (aka, allowance) from your parents, then that means splurging on whatever you think looks "cute" is a big fat no-no. When shopping, stick to pieces that you can mix and match with others, but also keep that wow factor in mind. Never be afraid to go crazy!

My must-have for going back to school is the classic plaid shirt, especially American Eagle Outfitter's Men's Eagle Flannel Shirt ($40). Plaid shirts made for girls are usually a bit too fitted and short, and if you buy a few sizes larger for that oversized look, you get these awkward armpit/shoulder things that aren't very flattering. Buying a shirt made for guys' broad shoulders and such could make the fit more comfortable and add that lazy Sunday feel.

Another piece for school is the statement bag -- I'm talking colour and hardware. Definitely make sure that it's large and sturdy enough for a few binders (fifty pound textbooks in your bag equals torn lining and loose change going missing; a bit of math for ya), as well as your makeup and pencil case. I suggest Urban Outfitter's Twisted Hardware Doctor Bag($68) in red or Kimchi Blue Harness Satchel ($68) in teal.

As for jewelry, don't spend too much bucks on this. Go for Forever 21's Fantasy Pearls with Floral Clusters Necklace ($8.80) and Linked Mixed Bangle Set ($5.80) which when put together is totally under twenty bucks! Now finish this look off with your favourite pair of black or dark wash skinny jeans and a comfy pair of heels or flat boots, and you're first-day-back to-school ready!
